Trigger Happy!
May 29, 2007I've never used a gun before, unless of course you consider a be be gun to be a real gun. Those of you who know me, you know that I am not one to handle a gun, and in fact you probably could never ever picture me holding a gun let alone firing one. It's just so not a part of my character.
Well, on Monday to commemorate Memorials day, I tagged along with Lowell and a buddy of ours and we went out deep into the desert 50 miles west of Las Vegas, near a small town called Pahrump, right off Highway 160. The area we went to was a well known hidden dry ravine by the locals, about an hour's drive from home. The ravine and areas around it was filled with burnt plants, lots of bullet shells of all kinds, scraps of metal, glass, plastic, a cow carcass, and all kinds of bullet-hole-ridden junk. There was no life stirring about, just the desert plants. We were in hick country of Nye County. We had to be mindful of the shady characters in that area. Hicks here tend to be outrageously well armed and stupid. We only saw one old geezer with a lot of ammo. He had oily and partially balding untamed hair, raggedy clothes, slightly overweight, and looked very anti-social. Thankfully, when we arrived he was getting ready to leave, so we had the whole ravine to ourselves throughout the day.
In our possession we had a 9mm Glock Handgun, a 22mm Rifle, .45 Caliber Handgun, an old 30mm Rifle (don't know the name, but was used during the Spanish-American War), and a Chinese made AK-47, along with hundreds of rounds of ammo.
